Subject: 2002 e.hormone Summary On-line

EEOH e-mail update subscribers:

New research in a variety of fields was presented at last week's e.hormone
2002 conference. Speakers stressed signaling and communication and weaved
these crucial concepts through their presentations whether they were
discussing cells, organisms, or ecosystems. Highlights include: many novel
cellular mechanisms and pathways of action (including thyroid hormone
receptors in the cytoplasm and several examples of complex cascading
pathways); examples of ecological-scale disruption in coral; banana
plantations; and fish, frogs, and amphibian populations; and new cell lines
and other systems for studying endocrine disruption.
