Hello Mike:
Several groups are working on this topic. One of the more long-running and
productive groups is that of John Holland. See for example

	D.A Steinhauer, E. Domingo, J.J.Holland (1992)
	Lack of evidence for proofreading mechanisms
	associated with an RNA virus polymerase.
	GENE 122:281-288.

This paper and references cited therein should get you started.
