Postdoctoral Fellow Position Available

Gene Therapy and Molecular Virology Group

A position is available for a molecular virologist to work on
developing a herpes simplex type 1 vector for gene therapy in the
spinal cord.  The research will extend work ongoing in our
laboratories.  We have developed replicating and replication
defective HSV vectors containing marker genes and have successfully
delivered them to neurons in the spinal cord by tranport through
autonomic nerves after injection of the virus into abdominal organs
(LeVatte, Weaver, York, Johnson and Dekaban, Neuroscience 66:737-
750, 1995).  The candidate should have experience in molecular
virology, tissue culture and molecular cloning and gene expression.
Some background in neurobiology would be advantageous.  The John P.
Robarts Research Institute offers an excellent training
environment with numerous scientists working in molecular aspects
of neurobiology, virology, human genetics and immunology.
