RESEARCH ASSISTANT

A position for a Research Assistant is available at The Centre for
Environmental Health, University of Victoria.  The initial
appointment is for one year, with the possibility for extention for
an additional one year.  The salary is $ 1,800 per month.

The successful candidate must have an excellent knowledge of
molecular biology with special emphasis on genetic engineering of
baculoviruses. The duties and responsibilities of this position
include construction of recombinant baculoviruses that express
markers genes, conduct luciferase expression assays, as well as
analyze of mRNA expression by northern blot and RT-PCR
differential-display RNA fingerprinting techniques. In addition,
the candidate must speak Manderin and have knowledge of, or
experience with, forestry and/or agricultual practices in China.
The candiate will act as liason with scientific collaborators in
the Peoples Republic of China.
