1.	Title:  Applications are invited for a 3-year term appointment in
Environmental Biology at the level of Assistant Professor.  This position
will commence 1 July 1996 subject to budgetary approval.

2.	Qualifications:  Ph.D. required by the appointment date. 
Post-doctoral experience, teaching experience, and evidence of ability to
develop an externally funded research program will be assets.  Preference
will be given to applicants with strengths in field-based research
addressing environmental and ecological issues in disciplines such as
plant ecology, aquatic ecology, or biogeography.   We especially seek
candidates whose research focus can encompass regional environmental
topics and who use quantitative or molecular techniques.

3.	Responsibilities:  The appointee will teach in the lower- and
upper-level undergraduate program, including field courses in ecology,
and will develop a strong research program.  Opportunities for
collaborative research with Agriculture Canada and for graduate student
supervision exist.

4.	Salary (1995-96):  Assistant Professor  $37,350 minimum per annum.
