teratogen exposure

I think the suggestion to educate the student as much as possible about 
the potential risks in a lab course, to with consult her doctor and to make 
her own decision is a good one.  I also feel strongly that everyone should be 
making a sincere effort to reduce toxic exposure in all lab work. And I 
have a question: why did a "safety team" roaming through my department 
put the label "potential teratogen" on my sucrose bottle?!!
