A postdoctoral position is available to investigate the genetic control of lateral
branching using Petunia hybrida. Three genetic loci have been identified
that are required for the expression of apical dominance during the vegetative
phase of growth. Important goals for this project include cloning
Decreased apical dominance genes using an established Ac/Ds transposon
tagging system and continued genetic analyses, such as isolation of
suppressor loci and double and triple mutant analyses. Candidates should be
experienced in standard molecular genetics technologies and have a basic
understanding of genetics and plant development. The position is
funded by NSF. Please send a curriculum vitae and names of three
references to Carolyn Napoli, Environmental Horticulture, University
of California, Davis, CA 95616 USA. For further information contact
