casual jobs?

 I am looking at going to USA / Canada later this year for a working
holiday. Can anyone give me an idea of my chances of finding casual
laboratory work?
I majored in biochemistry and microbiology at university and have
experience in PCR, recombinant DNA techniques, HPLC and bacterial
expression systems.
Any advice or even a straight out 'don't bother' would be much
appreciated.
