Looking for advice on bio career

Dear Heather,

Being unskilled in the laboratory can be considerably offset by
enthusiasm, willingness to learn (from the bottom up), and finding out
about the type of research that the labs you contact are interested in-
so that when you talk to the PIs of the lab you can discuss why you'd like
to work with them, what you'd like to get out of it, etc...

It is less impressive to contact someone with the comments that you'd like
to work with them to get lab experience and that you are willing to do
ANYTHING without a clue as to what they do, when compared to talking with
someone who knows and somewhat understands the type of work that you do,
and an idea of what they would like to learn...

Good luck!
