Since many readers of this group have commented on the quality (or lack
thereof) of scientific writing, you may enjoy an article in the January
20 issue of The Scientist, entitled "Scientific Journal Editors Say
Polished Prose Clarifies Research." It makes some good points and also
includes a list of expressions to avoid (and alternatives to use). I can
think of a number of colleagues who I hope will take these suggestions
to heart!
