One other side point. One of our profs told us that he fought long and
hard to keep his advisor off a paper he felt was without the prof's
contribution. He succeeded. He feels now that the paper would have gotten
more recognition and been more valuable to him in his career had his quite
prominent advisor been on the paper. Ethical? Who knows. Valuable?
Sometimes. . .
