I just had to share this...

my advisor's 7 year old daughter was in lab one day last week.  while
she was there, she was sitting at the table in the lab break room
with a highlighter and a stack of papers she'd salvaged from the
recycling bin.  when one of the other grad students sat down to talk
with her for a bit, she told the student "not now!  i'm busy writing
a grant".
