My local newspaper carried an article on the Women's Museum. I have
included the basic info from their website:
http://www.thewomensmuseum.org/main/index.html

The Women's Museum is asking people to visit the website and vote for the
100 most unforgetable women in American history. Here's a chance to make
sure women scientists are honored.

The Women's Museum: An Institute for the Future
an official millennium project of the United States of America

The Women's Museum: An Institute for the Future will open in
October 2000 in Dallas, Texas. The museum is the national legacy project of
the Board of the Foundation for Women's Resources. Today, on the verge of
the new millennium, women can expect greater opportunity than ever before.
At this time of closure and new beginnings, we celebrate women's lives and
contributions as we usher in a century full of promise.

        Honor the Past
The museum encompasses a vision that is much more than a
conventional concept. Through state-of-the-art interactive exhibits, we
chronicle the contributions of women throughout history, explore the
similarities and differences among women's lives across time and inspire
pride and hope for millions of visitors - women and men, young and old.
"If you are to know where you are going, you must first know where
you have been."
              - Anon.

        Shape the Future
The Museum's exhibits and programs also give visitors a view of the
21st century. Digital technologies and innovative media offer glimpses of
tomorrow's wonders, teach about the exciting potential for living and
working well in the decades to come, and help visitors envision a global
future in which their lives are their own design.
"The future enters into us, in order to transform itself in us,
long before it happens."
              -Rainer Maria Rilke

        The Exhibit Experience
In contrast with the traditional architecture of the shell, the
building's new interior is very much part of the future. Smooth,
curving elements and shimmering surfaces draw visitors into the
luminous space of the three-story central Gathering. The main
entrance foyer replicates a portion of the 1936 art deco foyer. As a
signature of the museum, a 30 ft. high electronic quilt will
welcome visitors preparing them to understand the power of the
stories they will experience. Also located on this level are the
Museum Store, a 200-seat auditorium, public meeting rooms,
elevators and public lounges. Click here to see the Exhibits.
