Maternity leave

I am not certain of the law, but I know that the leave act only applies to
companies above a certain number of employees, and then it's only 12 weeks
unpaid leave. As a postdoc, I had a child and had 4 weeks paid leave- not
nearly enough time really, and we couldn't afford unpaid leave...I know some of
my friends have had 3 months of with a large chunk of that paid.

I would look to bigger companies to have better policies (if that is an
option...)
