THE NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM , LONDON,  Department of Botany
Temporary Assistant Curator  - 6 months maternity leave cover
Pro rata salary range £18,000 p.a.

The Natural History Museum, invites applications to join the team managing
the collections of the Department of Botany. Main responsibilities will
relate to the 800,000 specimen bryophyte and lichen collections but there
will be curatorial duties throughout the herbaria. Duties will include the
conservation and maintenance of the collections, entering collections
information onto databases, assisting scientific visitors to the
collections and supporting consultancy work.
A degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience is essential as is
a knowledge of current database, spreadsheet and word processing packages
and use of the Internet.
A diploma or postgraduate qualification in museum studies along with
collections management experience and an interest in “lower plants” would be 
advantageous.

The starting salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
