and The Natural History Museum, London

BiodiversityWorld (2 posts)

Two new research positions are available to join an existing team of
five researchers in creating the BiodiversityWorld system, an
experimental problem-solving environment for global biodiversity
research on the GRID. BiodiversityWorld is a fixed term 3-year e-Science
project funded by the BBSRC e-Science & Bioinformatics Panel, a
collaborative project of the Universities of Reading, Cardiff,
Southampton, and the Natural History Museum, London. It is now nearing
the end of its first year, and two new fixed term 2-year positions are
available.

1. (Ref. R0344) Postdoctoral Research Assistant specializing in
biodiversity analysis for conservation; a biologist with informatics
and/or GIS skills plus experience in modelling the selection of
representative areas and the evaluation of conservation priorities, at
The Natural History Museum, London, for 24 months (starting at £21,125 -
£23,296 pa.)

2. (Ref. R0345) Postdoctoral Research Assistant specializing in
phylogenetic systematics; a biologist with experience in computational
phylogenetic analysis and biodiversity informatics, at The University of
Reading for 24 months (starting at £21,125 - £23,296 pa.)


Species 2000 europa / Catalogue of Life (1 post)

One new research position is available to join an existing team of three
researchers for the Reading component of Species 2000 europa (EuroCat),
a fixed-term European network to establish the Catalogue of Life, funded
by the EC.

3. (Ref. R0348) Middleware Programmer; a programmer with experience in
data transformation and database programming, and an interest in
biodiversity, at The University of Reading for 19 months (starting at
£22,191 - £24,121 pa.)

Interviews will be held on 31 July or 4 August 2003. Start date is 1
September for Post R0348, otherwise 16 September or 1 October 2003.
