USDA-ARS is seeking a Research Geneticist / Computational Biologist.
The position is located in the Corn Insects and Crop Genetics
Research Unit and is housed in the Department of Pathology on the
Iowa State University campus in Ames, IA. The successful candidate
will lead a vigorous, independent bioinformatics/computational
biology research program involving the management, analysis, and
interpretation of genomics data in plants. The candidate will
interact with existing programs to integrate data from genetic and
physical maps, genome and EST sequences, functional genomics, and
high-throughput, parallel-expression profiling to investigate global
gene expression in cereal crops, including effects of transgene
insertion and biodiversity. Candidates will be encouraged to
integrate with the ISU Bioinformatics and Computational Biology
Graduate Program [http://www.bcb.iastate.edu/] and the Laurence H.
Baker Center for Bioinformatics and Biological Statistics
[http://www.bioinformatics.iastate.edu/index.html] and will be
considered for a Collaborator Faculty appointment at Iowa State
University. A PhD. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology,
Genetics, or related discipline appropriate to the position is
preferred. Experience in interdisciplinary scientific computing,
plant genomic and proteomic data analysis, or database development is
desirable. Salary is commensurate with experience ($56,463 -
103,150). U.S. Citizenship required. Comprehensive benefits package
