Was asked this yesterday regarding CCP4, so may as well repeat my
answer here, for what its worth:

>We have not personally run CCP4 on IRIX 6.x, but have heard several
>reports. Specifically, several people have run CCP4 on IRIX 6.1 R8000
>(with mips4), and we know of one person who ran it on an Indigo2 high
>impact R10000 although she didn't report which OS she had. We have
>not yet heard of any experiences with IRIX 6.2 - does it differ much
>from 6.1? Anyway, I do not think you will have any major problems
>(check out the IRIX64\ 6.*|IRIX\ 6.*) section of the configure file
>for default compiler options).

So basically CCP4 seems to be OK on 6.1, and if 6.2 isn't too different
then I'd go for it. Feedback welcomed to us at Daresbury HQ
(ccp4 at dl.ac.uk)
