sound recorder program

I am trying to do my own web page. I need to record the sounds in .AU
format with a player/recorder program to be played by MS Internet
Explorer on a PC Pentium Winows 95.

Do you know of any free professional software to record the importants
sounds files in AU format?


Would you tell me where I can load it up on my computer?
