Back to the original question....  Yes, trp repressor crystallizes in
two different crystal forms under exactly the same conditions (even in the
same crystallization droplet), and it turns out that the structures are
slightly different, involving modest shifts in positions of two alpha
helices.  I think I remember Brian Matthews saying something similar about
T4 lysozyme.  Reference for trp repressor is: Proteins vol 3, 18-31
(1988).
