Streak Seeding

Just a quick question. I am trying to start some seeding experiments. I tried to streak-seed yesterday, and I noticed that my cats whisker skimmed across the surface of my (hanging) drop. Would this be enough to deposit seeds on the surface, or should I be aiming to put the whisker actually in the drop? The text I am using as a guide doesn't mention anything about this. I am trying to shift my conditions to sitting drops, as I am aware that this will be easier for the purposes of seeding. One other related

question...what fibres do people use to seed? I am not to happy about getting people to cut off their cats whiskers, so I am interested in something more artificial. Or would human eyelashes be OK, as I have a plentiful supply of those!
