Chris Larsen asks about attempting to co-xtalize an enzyme and substrate.
I think each case has to be tried experimentally. In many cases, such
as trypsin (I believe), this has been successful. Furthermore, there is a
lot to be gained from having the structures of the enzyme, substrate and the
complex of the two. It might even help in the solution to be able to use
molecular replacement. Good luck,
