XPLOR and CCP4 compatibility

I run into problems with compatibility.

I want to do a peak search for waters on a difference map. I have
therefore created a binary map file using XPLOR and want to use the
CCP4 routines PEAKMAX and WATPEAK to scan for peaks. At running
PEAKMAX I get an error message 'QMODE has no such mode **'. 

Are XPLOR and CCP4 files incompatible? 

I would much appreciate any suggestions/help/solutions.
