EMBL HAMBURG OUTSTATION
POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS
The European Molecular Biology Laboratory, an international research
organisation situated in Heidelberg, Germany, has three postdoctoral
fellowships available in the Laboratory's outstation at the Deutsches
Elektronensynchrotron (DESY) in Hamburg. The outstation is concerned
with the application of synchrotron radiation to molecular biology.
There are currently four scientific groups in protein crystallography,
EXAFS, non-crystalline systems and instrumentation. In addition there
is an active biochemistry/molecular biology laboratory working
primarily with the crystallography group. The fellowships can be held
in any of these areas. The outstation has its own beam lines, currently
6 in total, in each of the fields. The DORIS ring is now a dedicated
synchrotron source.
Applicants should have a Ph. D. in a relevant field. As an inclusive
organisation, EMBL encourages applications from all qualified applicants,
including women and citizens of all member states of the Laboratory.
However two of the fellowships are funded by the European Union and
are only open to EU citizens.
The net salary will be equivalent to that for EMBO/EMBL postdoctoral
fellows.
Informal enquiries about the posts may be made to the Head of the
outstation, Dr. K.S. Wilson:
Tel: ++ 49 40 899020,
Fax: ++ 49 40 89902149
Email: KEITH at EMBL-HAMBURG.DE
The contracts will be for 2 years. Applications, including a CV,
previous research activities and the names and addresses of two
referees should be sent to the Personnel section by 31.07.1994
quoting reference number 94/PD/4.
