Do you have any suggestions for a textbook on structure and bonding
for third year undergraduate chemistry majors? I have looked at books on
bioinorganic chemistry, solid state chemistry, and inorganic chemistry. So
far, nothing is exactly right. The text by DeKock and Gray, Chemical
Structure and Bonding, which we have used for a number of years in this
course, does not place enough emphasis upon structure. I am looking for a
textbook that includes information about organic structure and biological
macromolecules, as well as inorganic structure.
Perhaps two textbooks will be necessary, one on bonding and one on
structure. Is there a good general survey of structure which includes
inorganic, organic and biological molecules?
Thanks,
