more about freezing xtals

I've had a request to give more detail about the situation I mentioned
before where liquid propane seemed to be necessary for a good freeze.  I
thought I might as well post my response in case others are also wondering.

The crystals were in a stablization solution with 10% PEG 8000, 
25 mM (NH4)2 SO4, 20% glycerol, buffered at 7.0.  They were a tabular habit.
