                   CCP4 Postdoctoral Fellow

              (Three year fixed term appointment)

CCP4 (Collaborative Computational Project 4), a BBSRC supported activity,
is the leading software suite used worldwide in the determination of
protein structures by crystallographic techniques. Written mainly in ANSI
standard Fortran and implemented on a variety of platforms running under
UNIX and VMS, the programs cover most aspects of protein crystallography,
including data reduction, structure determination and refinement.

A vacancy exists for a scientist to develop and implement new computational
methods in protein crystallography. Areas of particular interest are in
graphical user interfaces, refinement programs and Patterson search methods.
There will be encouragement to collaborate with various university groups.
While the appointment will be made through Daresbury Laboratory it will be
possible for the post to be held at a University if this is deemed
appropriate. This position is funded by a BBSRC project grant and the
salary offered will be on the HSO/SSO scale with a starting salary between
13,491 and 24,888 UK pounds per annum.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Candidates should have a degree in a scientific or computer science
discipline and have considerable experience in programming. Knowledge
of crystallography would be an advantage.
