X-ray/E.M. Research Engineer at New York University

Position available for an engineer or physicist to maintain and upgrade 
X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy facilities as well as relevant 

Responsibilities include maintaining two Rigaku rotating anode X-ray 
generator, Rigaku RAXIS-II image plates, MSC cry-transfer systems, two 
Philips (CM12 and CM200 FEG) electron microscopes, Oxford and Gatan 
cry-holders, CCD camera and image processing systems, ordering and 
storing x-ray/E.M. lab supplies, and organizing and upgrading 
crystallographic software in SGI unix workstations. The instruments will 
generally be under service contract and the applicant will therefore 
serve as primary liason during service calls. However, the applicant 
should also be able to troubleshoot and fix simple problems on his/her 
own.  In addition, custom applications will involve design and 
implementation of special apparatus and the applicant should therefore 
be able to read and design simple electronic circuits, to build simple 
apparatus, to overhaul vacuum pumps and to understand computer control 
of the equipment.

The position is at New York University Medical Center, Skirball 
Institute of Biomolecular Medicine, in midtown Manhattan.
