**********Postdoctoral Position in Protein Crystallography*************

Applications are sought for a 2 year postdoctoral position to determine
structures of major outer surface proteins (OspA, OspB, and OspC) from the
tick-borne Lyme disease spirochete, Borrelia burgdorferi, by X-ray
crystallography. Structural information from proteins crystallized both by
themselves and in complexes with antibody Fab fragments will be used for
vaccine design in an well-established collaborative project involving
scientists from BNL and SUNY Stony Brook. We have recently succeeded in
solving the structure of OspA complexed with Fab [see: Li, H. and Lawson,
C.L., J. Structural Biology, 115, 335-337 (1995)].
Our department has ample graphics and computing power, a rotating anode
generator, and frequent access to protein crystallography beamlines at the
NSLS. Prior experience in crystallographic structure determination is
REQUIRED; experience with protein expression, purification and
crystallization is also highly desirable. Send CV with cover letter and
names of three references.
