(NSERC) of Canada. The project focuses on the combination of direct methods
and artificial intelligence strategies for solving protein crystal
structures. The objective is to develop and implement a knowledge-based
system for the reconstruction and interpretation of protein structures. The
project involves the implementation of a mathematical direct methods
framework for the system, the construction of a knowledge base, the
development and implementation of machine learning techniques for
applications to molecular structures and the integration of automated
approaches to protein map interpretation. A Ph.D. in crystallography,
chemistry, biochemistry or a related discipline is required. Knowledge of
direct methods and/or artificial intelligence techniques is desirable.
Computing skills, including a familiarity with C and UNIX, are essential.
