BIOMOLECULAR COMPUTATION, PROTEIN MODELLING & BIOINFORMATICS
COMPUTATIONAL MOLECULAR BIOLOGY AND DRUG DESIGN GROUP
THE JOHN CURTIN SCHOOL OF MEDICAL RESEARCH
AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL UNIVERSITY, CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA
Position 1 (JC9710)
-------------------
To work within one or more ongoing projects concerned with protein structure
prediction and bioinformatics, homology modelling of proteins, and development
and application of methods for docking ligands to proteins. Applicants should
have thorough training in theory and application in one or more of the following
areas: protein structure determination or analysis, or computational chemistry
or molecular simulation, preferably on biomolecular systems. An interest in
complex biomolecular systems, and ability and willingness to interact with other
theoreticians and with experimentalists, are essential. The position is
available from mid '97 for an initial period of two years with possibility of
extension for a third year.
Position 2 (JC9709)
-------------------
To work on a project concerned with definition of the structure and function of
a membrane-bound protein using both computer-based and experimental approaches.
Applicants should have thorough training in one or more of the following areas:
protein structure determination or analysis, protein/structure function studies,
bioinformatics or biomolecular simulation. A demonstrated interest in complex
biomolecular problems, and ability and willingness to interact with other
theoreticians and with experimentalists, including students, are essential.
Depending on interests and skills there will be an opportunity for the appointee
to contribute to the experimental program. The position is available as soon as
possible for a period of two years with the possibility of a further contract
subject to funding.
