                      ------ OUT NOW ! ------

The latest version of the CCP4 Suite for protein crystallography is
now available on the CCP4 anonymous ftp server (ccp4a.dl.ac.uk or
148.79.112.134 - cd pub/ccp4). The CCP4 Suite is mirrored in San Diego
at rosebud.sdsc.edu (directory /pub/sdsc/xtal/CCP4 ) and in Japan
at pfweis.kek.jp (130.87.176.31 , directory /mirror/ccp4/ccp4 ), but
please allow some time for the mirror sites to be upgraded to the new
version.

In addition to a number of bug fixes and enhancements to
existing programs, this release includes the following new programs:

  * ARPP: AUTOMATED REFINEMENT PROGRAM from VICTOR S. LAMZIN.
Note that "arp" has been renamed "arpp" to avoid conflict with unix
command.
  * GETAX from Clemens Vonrhein. Real space searching for rotation axis
of
    a D<n> or C<n> multimer (<n> = 2,3,4,5,6,...).
  * OMIT from Bauke Dijkstra and Fred Vellieux. Calculate omit maps
    according to procedure of Bhat.
  * RDENT: create dictionary entries for Restrain from PDB file.
  * STNET moved from unsupported
  * REVISE: program to generate normalised anomlous scattering factor
magnitudes from MAD data (Yao Jia-xing).
  * wulff.ps added to 'aggregated' stuff, for generating Wulff
    net (Ian Clifton).

There are also new versions of DM, REFMAC, RESTRAIN and SCALA.

Documentation for most of the programs is now distributed in
html format. Point your browser at $CCP4/html/INDEX.html (or use
the alias "ccp4help"). Formatted .doc files are still distributed
for those that prefer them. The script $CHTML/makeman.csh (run
automatically by the installation procedure) will set up cat1 and
whatis so that you can use the "man" command.

Details of all the changes can be found in the CHANGES file in the
top-level directory ($CCP4).
