Postdoctoral Research Position
Centre for Drug Design & Development
The University of Queensland

The Centre for Drug Design & Development (3D Centre) is staffed by a
multidisciplinary team of forty research scientists and 18 PhD students
working in the fields of chemical synthesis, peptide/protein synthesis,
protein crystallography, macromolecular modelling and computer aided drug
design, biochemistry/enzymology, NMR structural analysis and pharmacology.

The Centre has developed a range of exciting generic technologies in drug
design and discovery. These include the design and synthesis of
peptidomimetics and other small molecules which mimic or inhibit peptides
and proteins, the design and construction of combinatorial chemistry
libraries, and the isolation and identification of novel bioactive
molecules from the venoms of Australian fauna and flora.

Working in collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry, these
technologies are now being applied to the development of bioactive lead
compounds targeted to the treatment of AIDS and other viral infections,
cancer, inflammatory conditions, CNS disorders, stroke and Alzheimer's

The Centre has a Research Officer (Level A) position currently available
for an energetic and highly motivated scientists in the area of Enzyme
Inhibitors/Protein Crystallography
A PhD qualification in protein crystallography is essential with experience
in structure-based design of enzyme inhibitors highly advantageous. Further

University of Queensland salary scales and conditions will apply. It is
expected that the salary range for this position will be AUD$39,256-$45,456
per annum and will be paid in accordance with the successful applicants
qualifications and experience. These positions are on commercial projects
