Postdoctoral Research Positions, University of Cambridge

Applications are invited for two post-doctoral positions in a new
Wellcome Trust-funded laboratory (http://perch.cimr.cam.ac.uk).
Successful applicants will be able to choose from a variety of projects
in both theoretical and practical areas of protein crystallography.

Our research interests include the structural biology of bacterial
toxins, with a particular interest in events that lead to the import
and trafficking of these toxins to the interior of cells. We are also
studying members of the serpin class of serine proteinase inhibitors,
which undergo an astounding conformational change as a key part of
their inhibitory mechanism. Our theoretical interests are centered on
the application of likelihood to determining and refining crystal
structures.

The laboratory is well-equipped for protein expression (incubators,
fermenter) and purification (BioCad Sprint), X-ray data collection
(Mar345 detector on Rigaku generator equipped with Osmic optics and
Oxford Cryostream) and computations (SGIs and Linux PCs). We are
located next door to the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, with
whom we share X-ray diffraction facilities.

The University of Cambridge follows an equal opportunities policy.
Salaries will be commensurate with age and experience.

Applicants should send a c.v., including the names and addresses of
two referees, to:
