CRYSTAL SHOP
MANAGER
Stanford University’s Ginzton Lab seeks a strong manager to supervise the Professional Crystal Polishing Shop and staff as well as the Student/Staff Crystal Shop. We’ll rely on you to develop curriculum and train students and staff in the use of crystal shop apparatus, monitor shop use and develop/utilize procedures, methods and devices required to grind, polish, cut and x-ray orient standard and newly developed crystalline and amorphous materials. Requires an AA degree, 10 years applicable experience or equivalent in crystallography, optics, crystal cutting and polishing along determined crystal axes, and use of optical and mechanical measurement tools and mechanical machine shop tools. Knowledge of current health and safety regulations including safe handling, tagging and disposal of toxic waste is essential. Good interpersonal, communication and supervisory skills are also necessary.
