The Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB) is the centrepiece of a $100
million world-class research complex being developed by the University of
Queensland (UQ) in partnership with Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and
Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and other research agencies at
UQ's St Lucia campus.

This project will bring together in one building scientists from several
existing University research Centres and the CSIRO, to create a
state-of-the-art research environment. This environment will also aim to
attract excellent researchers from overseas and provide opportunities for
students to study in a world-class facility.

The Institute has a number of ARC and NHMRC funded research scientist
positions available early in 2000, for energetic and highly motivated
people. Three postdoctoral research positions are available in Structural
Biology (Ref. No: 72599)

These are to work on:
1) SNARE proteins involved in insulin action,
2) PNMT, the enzyme that catalyses adrenaline synthesis and
3) redox proteins that catalyse the folding of bacterial toxins.

The research will involve the cloning, expression, purification,
crystallisation, crystal structure determination and structural analysis of
these proteins. A PhD in either molecular biology/protein expression or
protein crystallography is essential.
