There will be beamtime available for macromolecular crystallographic
investigations on several NSLS beamlines during summer 2001, beginning
about 15 May. There is also the possibility of courier-based service or
remote operations (http://www.px.nsls.bnl.gov/fedex.html).

If you are interested, see "TO APPLY" below. Please access the NSLS PX web
site(http://www.px.nsls.bnl.gov/) for information about the beamlines.
Also, all who are not U.S. citizens should please read about the new
"indices" checks (form IA-473) that must be made before a visit to BNL:
http://nslsweb.nsls.bnl.gov/nsls/users/procedures/foreign.htm

TO APPLY FOR RAPID ACCESS BEAMTIME:

1. Please fill out the web-based form referenced below.
2. Send e-mail to Bob Sweet (sweet at bnl.gov) describing your needs.
3. State clearly if you are interested in FedEx Data collection.

 Note:

In the "Date of visit" blank put "Rapid Access."
In the Safety form blank put "N/A".

Acces the Form Here: http://www.x12c.nsls.bnl.gov/x12c/bor_form_x12c.html

Later you will be asked to fill out our PX-Project Form
(http://www.x12c.nsls.bnl.gov/x12c/PXProject99.html), which requires a
short abstract of the scientific goals of the work.

CCD-Based detection systems, as well as sufficient computing power that
all data can be reduced on site (and often structures can be solved on
site as well), are available on all of these beamlines.

A Research Resource Grant from the National Institutes of Health
(http://www.x12c.nsls.bnl.gov/rr_summary/brief_intro/brief_intro.html) is
providing enhanced support for users to the NSLS. Work is being done under
this grant to extend the state of the art in macromolecular
crystallography in both computing hardware and software, use of modern
detectors, application of multi-layer monochromators to provide hotter
beams, and multiple-beam phasing of protein structures.
