Dear Colleagues,
Are you fed up with spam on xtal-log like I am? This group used to be
useful means of electronic communication to the crystallographic community,
but now there are more spammers trying to sell things we don't want than
any scientific content.
I recently voiced this complaint to the Biosci staff, and I was told that
our list could be moderated, which means that someone would remove the
garbage messages and only pass along those related to crystallography. I
am willing to become the moderator as it is a relatively minor task.
Benefits of moderation: No more garbage mail to wade through. The list
can therefore serve its intended purpose of being a valuable tool to help
us all with our science, instead of being an annoyance.
Drawback: Messages suitable for the list will be slightly delayed in
posting. (I will find suitable substitutes during periods I am away or on
vacation).
If you have any strong opinions, positive or negative, about to converting
xtal-log to a moderated group, please post them to the group:
xtal-log at net.bio.net
I look forward to hearing your replies!
Sincerely,
Cathy Lawson
