To check whether you have protein crystals in a drop of mother liquor, inject one microlitre of 'gelcode blue' sds-page gel stain from 'Biorad', and the crystals will absorb the dye, turning brown, if they are protein. MUCH cheaper than 'Izit' from Hampton Research. ---
