Crystallography with micron sized crystals
Postdoctoral position, available January 2011.
Job ID: 15574
Requires a Ph.D. in biochemistry, structural biology, chemistry, or physics with general experience in the field of crystallography. Our needs include either growing/handling protein crystals, or solving challenging crystallography problems, or developing software for novel crystallographic applications. The candidate will work on a new project associated with the NSLS and the PXRR group (http://www.px.nsls.bnl.gov/) to drive the development of acoustic droplet ejection (ADE) techniques for exploiting micro-crystals at next generation X-ray facilities. ADE is a promising novel approach for developing ultra-fast serial crystallography methods at ultra bright X-ray sources such as NSLS-II and LCLS. Must be able to interact with a diverse group of scientists and engineers, as well as work independently. BNL offers competitive compensation commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications. Candidates should submit a CV, a description of research interests, and list the names and email addresses of three references. Under the direction of A. Soares, Biology Department. BNL policy states that research associate appointments may be made to candidates who have received their Ph.D. within the last five years.
