sort big cells from small cells

Dear netters!

And again I have a question to you all.

I want to sort small yeast cells ( for example daughter cells, or spores)
from bigger cells (e.g.: mother cells, older cells).

At the moment I try to do this with gradients (Sucrose or Percoll). 
Did anybody ever try that successfully or does anybody have a better suggestion?
Did anybody try that with a cell sorter (e.g.:FACS)??
