shuttling plasmids

I have been attempting to shuttle a plasmid out of my yeast cell back into E.
coli with little success. The method I have been using involves glass beads (
Nucleic Acids Research, 1990, 18, 5319) - this protocol is said to be better 
than the Hoffman and Winston protocol. I, however, have had success with 
this protocol only once. What's the secret??
