Mutants that fail to grow on SD but are not defective in a.a. biosynthesis

I have made a knockout in a gene that plays a role in the secretory pathway. On
rich media the k.o. strain is viable but it is unable to grow on minimal media
(SD). It appears the additional stress of having to synthesize amino acids is
to much for this mutant. I would like to hear from anyone who has had a similar
experience or who has any insight about differences in yeast physiology due to
growth on SD vs. YPD/SC.
			Thank you,
