Subject: Position Available - GlaxoWellcome, Geneva

Applications are invited for a position at the post-doctoral level in the
Yeast Group of the Geneva Biomedical Research Institute (formerly the
Glaxo Institute for Molecular Biology).
The underlying goal of the group is to apply yeast-based approaches to
understanding fundamental mechanisms in biology relevant to human
disease. Within the context of this general mission an opening has arisen
to study aspects of mitochondrial function in relation to ion and free
radical homeostasis, and the importance of these elements in the normal
and abnormal functioning of cells. Mitochondrial dysfunction underlies a
variety of pathological states in man, and given the extensive
conservation of mitochondrial functions throughout eukaryotic evolution
much of the underlying biology should be amenable to study in yeast.
The sucessful candidate should have a proven expertise in this area and
will be expected to play a key role within a multidisciplinary team
focussed on the importance of oxidative metabolism in disease.
This position has been advertised in Nature (24 October) and Science
(1 November).

Formal applications should be addressed to:
Personnel Department
Geneva Biomedical Research Institute
GlaxoWellcome Research and Development S.A.
14 chemin des Aulx,
1228 Geneva, Switzerland
and should include curriculum vitae, list of publications and the names
and addresses of three referees.

Informal enquiries can be made to:
