POSITION FOR GRADUATE STUDENT AT THE SWISS INSTITUTE FOR EXPERIMENTAL
CANCER RESEARCH (ISREC) IN EPALINGES (SWITZERLAND)
to study TELOMERASE AND DNA END REPLICATION
in yeast and/or Euplotes using biochemical, molecular and/or genetic
techniques.
Telomerase is a ribonucleoprotein enzyme essential for the complete
replication of chromosome ends. Its activation has been proposed to be
important during tumorigenesis. Objects of future research projects
include:
(1) Identification of additional protein components of telomerase by
biochemical or genetic means.
(2) Understand telomerase structure and mechanism: establishment of a
reconstitution system from recombinant components.
(3) Telomerase regulation.
(4) DNA end replication: establishment of an in vitro system and
identification of factors other than telomerase involved in DNA end
replication.
Interested candidates may obtain further information from Joachim
Lingner
at current address (see below). Applications should include CV and
letter of recommendation. Earliest starting date is July 1 1997, or
thereafter.
