Chromosome Structure and Dynamics
The Molecular and Cellular Biology Section of the T.H.
Morgan School of Biological Sciences invites applications
for a TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR position for the
Fall of 1998. We seek an individual of exceptional promise
who uses molecular genetic approaches to study chromosome
structure and dynamics. Appropriate research areas
include, but are not limited to: investigations of
telomere or centromere function, contribution of chromatin
domains to gene expression, DNA sequence contributions to
chromosome stability and evolution. Priority will be given
to candidates that use a well developed genetic system such
as Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Drosophila melanogaster, or
Caenorhabditis elegans. A Ph.D. or M.D. degree and
suitable postdoctoral experience are required. The
successful candidate is expected to establish a nationally
competitive research program and participate in relevant
undergraduate and graduate level instruction. The new
research program will complement existing strengths in gene
regulation, viral replication and transcription, pre-mRNA
splicing, signal transduction, developmental genetics, and
cell growth regulation. Excellent facilities and start-up
support are available.
The T.H. Morgan School of Biological Sciences is
comprised of 32 faculty members within the sections of
Molecular and Cellular Biology, Organismal and Integrative
Biology, and Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. The School
is part of a broader community of more than 400 Life
Sciences faculty within the University Main campus and in
the adjacent Medical School and Agricultural campuses.
