FUNCTIONAL GENOMICS IN YEAST
The post-genomic phase in the study of the yeast Saccharomyces
cerevisiae has just started. Applicants are invited to a 1 (+1) year
position to work on novel approaches for the initial characterisation of
yeast genes of unknown function, where the work will be intimately
linked to the numerous yeast related projects at the department. The
main technical focus will be on global analyses of expression changes at
the protein level by 2D-PAGE (proteomics) resulting from gene knock-outs
or gene overexpression. The major task will be to develop novel
approaches in bioinformatics for how to present and interpret genotype
dependent expression changes and functional links between
genes/proteins. The work will also include the development of our yeast
proteome database - http://yeast-2dpage.gmm.gu.se. An interest and
expertise in the yeast system, molecular biology and bioinformatics
would be an advantage.
Applications in writing with CV and the names and addresses of two
