Hello,

SGD now includes GO annotations for each aspect/ontology (Cellular
Process, Function and Component)
for every named gene in the S. cerevisiae. All of these annotations have
been done by SGD
curators; GO terms previously assigned by automated methods (evidence
code:IEA) have been replaced by
referenced, manually curated annotations. The GO annotations can be
found on SGD locus pages. For
example:
http://genome-www4.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/SGD/locus.pl?locus=SWE1

To help users understand the purpose and usefulness of GO annotations,
SGD
has created a GO tutorial:
http://genome-www.stanford.edu/Saccharomyces/help/gotutorial.html

SGD has also developed computational tools that exploit GO annotations,
called the GO TermMapper and the GO TermFinder. These tools and
information about the GO Consortium can be found on the GO Resources
page:
http://genome-www.stanford.edu/Saccharomyces/GOContents.shtml

Regards,

SGD curators
