THE INSTITUTE OF MOLECULAR AGROBIOLOGY, SINGAPORE
The Institute for Molecular Agrobiology (IMA) was recently established by
the National Science and Technology Board under the parentage of the
National University of Singapore. Its mission is:
"To spearhead agricultural research at the genetic and molecular levels to
establish Singapore as a world-class centre for agrotechnology industries."
The Institute wishes to set up about 20 independent laboratories focusing
on, but not limited to, the following research areas.
Plant cell Biology
Plant Developmental Biology
Viral, Bacterial and Fungal Pathogens of Plants
Defense Mechanisms of Plants
Yeast Molecular Genetics
Fish Developmental Biology
Mechanisms of Pathogenesis in Fish
Poxviruses and Insect Viruses
Mechanism of Pathogenesis in Animals
Applications are invited for positions at the rank of Principal
Investigators, Postdoctoral Fellows and Junior Research Fellows.
Principal Investigators who will be heads of independent laboratories will
be appointed at the rank of Associate Professor or Senior Scientist
(Equivalent to Assistant Professor), depending on experience. Teaching
responsibilities are modest and limited t o graduate level. Investigators
using innovative approaches to explore the mechanisms of basic biological
processes in model organisms (e.g. Arabidopsis and zebrafish) are
encouraged to apply. The application should include a copy of applicant's
curriculu m vitae, a brief description of past research experience and
accomplishments and the proposed research programme at IMA and names of

Applicants for positions of Postdoctoral Fellows and Junior Research
Fellows should send in their curriculum vitae along with the names of
