unsynchronized development

Dear all, we have some problems with our embryos. Their development is
not synchronized for example 24 hours after light onset, we have mixed
stages ranging from ap. 12-24 h embryos.

There are probably several mating since we have 20-40 fishes in each
aquarium but this does not explain this large difference (occuring in
different aquariums).

Does anybody has an idea of what happens?  Thanks.
